How to Choose Wall Art That Reflects You

Bare walls can feel cold — impersonal. But the right piece of art? It can shift the entire energy of a room.

At Moose Australia, I design and paint acrylic artworks that are bold, expressive, and full of texture. But more importantly, I help people find art that feels like them — not just something that matches the couch.

Think Emotion First, Not Color

Before you even think about colors or room matching, ask:

What feeling do I want this space to create?

Do I want calm? Energy? Stillness? Warmth?

Art is personal — choose pieces that evoke something, even if they’re not a “perfect fit” for the cushions.

My work ranges from earthy neutrals to vibrant, abstract explosions, but every piece is made with feeling in mind.

Look for Texture, Not Just Image

Many of my paintings are created with heavy body acrylics and layered strokes. They’re not just images — they’re physical. You can see and feel the movement in them.

This is especially important in modern homes where textures (timber, linen, canvas) can soften hard edges and make a space feel lived in.

Placement Matters

Big wall? Go bold — one large canvas creates a clean, intentional look.

Smaller space? Try a diptych (two-piece set) or a narrow vertical piece.

Entryways or bedrooms benefit from emotionally calming tones (think soft browns, greens, or blues).

Bonus tip: Hang your art at eye level, not too high. Let it connect.

Want Something That Feels Like You?

You don’t need to be an art expert — just someone who wants your space to feel more authentic.

Explore our original acrylic artworks, or message us for a commission that fits your style and story. Whether it’s abstract, earthy, minimal, or chaotic — we’ll create something together that’s more than decoration. It’ll be a piece of you on the wall.
